Cindy was my supervisor for my first postdoc at the University of Melbourne. I have to say that Cindy has been a model for me because she is one rare mathematician who is able to do field work, direct a workshop with researchers and decision makers, teach ecology and ultimately speak about the state-of-the-art optimization technics. I collaborated with her on a management project of an invasive species in Australia, the orange hawkweed. We were particularly interested in optimizing the current monitoring program. It was the first time I had to collaborate in English and I have to say that we mostly started with written report to be sure that we understood each other! Hopefully, Cindy has always been kind and helps me to improve my communication skills.
